SSS HPR Level 3 Certification Guide

So you want to become certified to fly Really High Power Motors? One to Four tons of thrust is a serious amount of OOOOOOMPF and needs to be approached correctly.

Level Three  (M/N/O) Motors)

  • You must first be Level 2 Certified, either NAR or Tripoli and a member in good standing with either organization.

  • You need to perform all of the requirements of the NAR or Tripoli Certification Process to include a full set of Drawings, Plans, Pictures and Simulation Data.

  • You need to Contact, prior to work start, either your NAR L3CC representative or the club Tripoli TAP member.  Also, you may contact the other club Level 3's for assistance, if needed.

  • You must personally build a rocket capable of safely flying at least an M class motor.

  • You need to successfully fly said rocket, one up and one back, to the satisfaction of that L3 representative.

Level 3 rocketry is long and painstaking process that should not be done on a weekend.  Plan out a 6 month to a year project and your rocket and it's flight will be more likely to succeed.  I have included links to all of the NAR L3 documentation to include the application.  I can also answer questions for the Tripoli process and help you in the right direction.
